Rescuers in Nepal have successfully extracted two survivors from the debris of devastating floods that struck the country 10 days ago. The Chinese man and a local woman were rescued in separate operations, marking a glimmer of hope in the ongoing search for thousands still missing. The man was pulled from a hydropower tunnel, while the woman was found in a collapsed house in Nuwakot town.

The rescue efforts have focused on 12 hydropower projects across Nepal, where approximately 900 workers remain unaccounted for. International teams from India, China, South Korea, and the United States are collaborating with local authorities to search through tunnels and damaged structures. The Nepalese army reported that the Chinese man was evacuated by helicopter after being extracted from a 225-meter tunnel, while the woman was airlifted to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

The floods, which began on August 26, have claimed at least 1,300 lives and left over 5,000 people missing. Authorities believe hundreds are trapped in tunnels, prompting intensified search operations. Despite the challenges, rescuers continue their work, driven by the possibility of saving more lives amid the wreckage.
